Nasdaq

The Nasdaq, also known as the Nasdaq Composite Index, is a market capitalisation-weighted index of over 3,000 common equities listed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.

It includes various industries, but the majority of the companies are technology and internet-based, making the Nasdaq Index a popular benchmark for the technology sector's overall performance. 💻

An example of a company included in the Nasdaq Index is Amazon Inc. (AMZN), a leading e-commerce and cloud computing company.

Fun fact: The Nasdaq Index was first published on February 8, 1971, with a starting value of 100 points. Since then, it has experienced significant growth, largely attributed to the boom of technology companies. During the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s and early 2000s, the index soared to its peak before experiencing a significant decline. 📉
