Stock

A stock is a type of financial instrument that represents partial ownership in a company, also known as a share. 📈

When investors purchase stocks, they become shareholders and gain a claim on a portion of the company's assets and earnings. Stocks are typically traded on stock exchanges, such as the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in the UK, and their prices fluctuate based on market forces and investor sentiment.

Example: If you buy 100 shares of Apple Inc., you become a shareholder and own a small fraction of the company.

Fun fact: The world's first stock exchange was the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, established in 1602, for the trading of shares in the Dutch East India Company. Today, the Amsterdam Stock Exchange is known as Euronext Amsterdam. 🏛️
